Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn., is hoping to rectify any wrong impressions that viewers of the movie Lincoln may have made about Connecticut’s history when it comes to slavery. The award-winning movie includes a scene in which two Connecticut congressmen vote against the 13th amendment to abolish slavery. But Courtney says that in 1865 all four of his state’s congressman backed the amendment. “In a letter to Spielberg, [Courtney] includes a tally of the 1865 vote by the state’s congressional delegation and a passionate defense of the state’s role in emancipating millions of blacks,” The Huffington Post writes. He’s asked that the movie be corrected before its release on DVD.
